The Fourth of July

Since our time in Provo, Robert has always been opposed to going anywhere to watch fireworks on the Fourth of July.  We had a bad experience in Provo with traffic, and we ended up having to ditch our car and just walk home.  Since then, he has hated large crowds and traffic.  He is already turning into an old man!

This year, we convinced him to go with a big group of friends to a firework display just outside of Houston.  It was a lot of fun, and the kids absolutely loved it.  Traffic and parking were a little chaotic, but I think Robert had just enough fun that he would be willing to go again.

Our kids absolutely loved the fireworks (and staying up waaaaay past their bedtime playing with friends).  I guess the hallmark of a good activity is how quickly the kids fall asleep in the car.  Scarlett was out shortly after getting to the car.  For Robert's sake, hopefully this is the start of a string of successful Fourth of July celebrations.
