Halloween Party!

This year we were invited to some friends' to have a little Halloween party. It was so much fun. We had pumpkin soup, talked, and let the kids run wild. We all had a great time.

I'd have to say the best part of the party was the little prank the hosts pulled on all of the guests. In the middle of the party we got a knock at the door. A girl who was disheveled, dirty, and in shock stood there asking us for help. We kept asking what was wrong, what had happened, but she just kept begging us to call her mom. We tried to call the number she gave us, but the call wouldn't go through. It was so intense that I sent the kids to the back room and the property owner came out to see what was going on. He took her with him to the office and we all discussed what could possibly have happened to her, determining the worst.

A few minutes later, a middle aged woman shows up at the door saying she got some missed calls from our location. This made me extremely suspicious and I lost my sense of humor thinking that this is a lousy trick to be playing on people. How could she know the call came from this location? The woman said that every year she gets phone calls to come and pick up her sister, but her sister had disappeared in 1976. I was pretty angry (didn't the girl ask us to call her mom?) and so were some of the other guests. We started in on whoever was stupid enough to do such a jerky prank. Some of the mothers there were so upset that they were crying and one asked if we could all say a prayer. That's when the hosts quietly said, "We set that up and the women are actresses that are in our family." At that point we all started apologizing for saying mean things, they apologized for it getting to us all, and we all nervously laughed and continued partying. The actresses and the property owner came back and introduced themselves. While not a part of the prank originally, the property owner asked if he could be in it next year. Although it was really intense, when all was said and done, it was the perfect Halloween prank.
My kids were bumblebees for Halloween. Nate was the Transformers Bumblebee, and Scarlett was real bumblebee. I love this picture. She wanted to be both varieties.
We all had to decorate a Halloween house. Nate really wanted to help. I even got in on the action.
Once we'd all completed our houses they were judged and ours won! It's the one second to the left. It had an oreo bat with tin foil wings on the back. It was Robert's idea and I'm sure it's what won us all our votes.
There was the obligatory find the gummy worms in the pudding pie contest and the dads convinced all the moms that they should do it. It was really fun. I love doing stuff like that but I wouldn't have done it if the others mothers weren't game. We got great video of it, too.

Nate wanted in on the pie contest so this is us before.
Finally, this is me was my two bumblebees right before we left. We had such a good time and it's so good to make new friends. This was by far my favorite Halloween party!
